For Women--Choosing the Best Costume
Halloween for a lot of adults is more of a costume hunting challenge than a holiday filled with imagination and candy. If, however, you can get passed this seemingly minor hurdle you are going to at least be well on the way to having a laidback, carefree evening. For the most part, ladies are going to have a harder time finding the right costume. For once, it is with good reason--there are thousands of options available for ladies of all shapes, sizes, and personalities. That being said, the majority of adult ladies costumes fall into two basic categories--sexy costumes and everything else.
Naturally there are the usual Costume ideas such as a black cat, a ghost, a witch, etc. These are most likely your first choice for the more traditional Halloween party goer. Just about any costume idea can be changed to have a sleeker, sexier look or you can play it down a bit, and preserve your modesty. Plus size costumes are out there in nearly every style now. It's important to select a halloween costume you are relaxed and comfortable in, both mentally and physically. It's a challenge to achieve your look if you do not feel confident in your halloween costume.
I've noticed that the sexy category has grown a lot recently, the bonus being that the costume choices are getting more diverse. It's not just sexy lady cop or a French maid (although these are still fun options). Sexy costumes have spread out to include pop culture. Thanks in large part to television shows like 'Alias' and movies like 'Charlie's Angels', ladies can have a particular irresistible and powerful figure in mind for Halloween. After all, it's, the only night of the year when a normally very restrained and professional woman can cut loose a bit in public.
On the other end of things; in the not necessarily sexy category, there is also a great assortment of choices. Movies and television shows still can be inspiring. So-called classic TV shows like 'I Dream of Jeanie' and 'I Love Lucy' offer you marvelous female characters. Period costumes are also an excellent choice. A decorative Renaissance era costume or even something inspired by the roaring twenties such as a flapper dress can be so fun.The 1950s is another fun time period. Think poodle skirts, saddle shoes, and ponytails. Above all, try to match your own personality to your costume. There just isn't much that finishes costumes better than your playacting.
When you have picked out your costume, don't forget to accessorize with wig, jewelry, make-up, a handbag, handcuffs -- whatever is appropriate for your costume. A good wig can have a huge impact on a woman's costume. With all the finishing touches in place, take off to your party prepared to blow away the other guests. Have a great time this Halloween and live out some fantasies. That is what this holiday is really about.
