How To Pick The Best Women's Costume
Halloween for a lot of grown ups tends to be more of a lesson in costume hunting than a celebration of candy and creativity. However, if you can get passed this minor drawback you will be on the way to acting like you are having a happy-go-lucky, carefree night. Consistently, ladies are going to have a tougher time trying to nail down the right costume. For once, though, it is for good reason--there are hundreds upon thousands of options for ladies of all shapes, personalities, and sizes. That being said, a large majority of female costume choices wind up falling into two basic categories--sexy costumes and all the others.
It seems to me that the sexy category has grown by leaps and bounds recently, the bonus being that costume options are becoming more varied. Now it's not just sexy lady cop or a French maid (although these are still fantastic options). Sexy costumes have branched out to include popular culture. As a result of movies like 'Charlie's Angels' and television shows like 'Alias', women can now have a more specific irresistible and powerful person in mind on Halloween. It is, after all, the one and only night in a year when a normally very reserved and professional woman can get away with cutting loose a little bit in public.
On the other end of the spectrum; the not necessarily sexy section, there is also a great collection of choices. Movies and TV can still serve as an inspiration. The so-called classic television shows like 'I Love Lucy' and 'I Dream of Jeanie' have attractive women characters to dress up as. Period costumes are also a fabulous option. An ornate Renaissance era costume or even a costume inspired by the roaring twenties such as a flapper dress can be really fun.The 1950s is another great time period. Think ponytails, poodle skirts and saddle shoes. Most importantly, try to match your personality to your costume. There's just not much that finishes an outfit better than your own acting.
There are obviously the familiar Costume ideas such as a black cat, a witch, a ghost, etc. These are probably a best bet for the more traditional Halloween partier. Nearly any costume idea can be altered to have a sexier look or you can play it down a bit, and remain modest. Plus size costumes are now available in practically every style. The most important thing to remember is to select a halloween costume you are comfortable and relaxed in, both physically and mentally. It's pretty difficult to achieve your look if you don't feel self-assured in your costume.
Once you've chosen your costume, don't forget to accessorize with make-up, feather duster, wig, jewelry, a matching handbag -- anything that is is right for your costume. It can't be emphasized enough the impact can have on a costume. With everything in place, head off to your celebration ready to blow away other guests at the party. Have fun this Halloween and live out some of fantasies. That's what this holiday is all about.
