Fun In The Sun In Southern California

Southern California is on of those ultimate destinations where you can enjoy a variety of outings including theme parks, zoos, missions, beaches, scenic drives, camping, cruises, and so much more! So why not come have some fun in the sun in Southern California?

If you’ve never been to an amphitheater Southern California has more to offer than most states so why not take advantage of the opportunity. Here you’ll find the 1600 outdoor Greek Theater; Hollywood Bowl which is known around the world for it’s top class performances; Irvine Meadows Amphitheater which hosts many rock bands as well as special events throughout the year; Universal Amphitheater which hosts some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. And of course there are plenty others!

If you’re hoping to spend some time enjoying the beach then come to Southern California where you’ll find beaches to suit everyone’s needs. The Wedge on Balboa Peninsula is the perfect location to watch waves crashing ashore. It’s a place for the brave and it’s the perfect place to get a glimpse of mother nature’s power during a storm. Yes you can even swim here but it’s only for those who’s heart belongs to the surf.

Doheny State Beach is perfect for soaking up some rays and surfing and Laguna Beach is perfect for diving and there are thousands of acres of underwater park. Diver’s Cover offers some great swimming and it’s truly a diver’s heaven! Malibu State Beach is one of the most popular beaches with white sand and gentle waves and Mission Bay is a surfer and scuba divers favorite water hole.

But wait there’s more. Oceanside City Beach, Pacific Beach, Santa Barbara and Santa Monica both have great beaches, and San Onofre State Beach to name just a few others. Do some exploring!

Southern California is also a great place to do some camping. The beach areas fill up fast so be sure to make reservations or you can head to a little higher ground for some breath taking scenery. Doheny Beach, Holloway Marina, Joshua Tree National Park, Newport Dunes, San Clemente State Beach, and San Mateo Camp Ground are just a few of the camp ground choices. Be sure to check them out!

If you’re looking to take a cruise, look no further. There are many cruises to choose from including day cruises, weekend cruises, and longer cruises.

If family fun is on your agenda not to worry Southern California has more to offer than many other states. Belmont Park is home to the giant wood dipper. Camelot Park and Castle City have bumper boats, go carts, laser tag and more. Then there’s Pharaohs Lost Kingdom named the ultimate in family adventure and entertainment.

Adventure City has 15 kid’s rides and a petting zoo. Balboa Fun Zone has plenty of fun and food. Belmont Park offers a 1925 roller coaster ride. California Adventure is next door to Disneyland and has different themed lands and don’t forget to try the Jambalaya – sooo spicy!

And of course Southern California is home to Disneyland Anaheim no need to explain any further. Spend a day, a week, or a month, you’ll never get board! Be sure to also visit Knott’s Berry Farm for some great rides, shows, and food. There’s also Six Flags Magic Mountain, Sea World San Diego, Universal Studios, Raging Waters, and so much more! A quick search online will reveal hundreds of choices!

Weather patterns, movement in the earth’s plates, and climate conditions have produced these magnificent sand dunes. Whether you want to explore them, play with your jeep or ATV, or just catch a glimpse there are some great sand dunes throughout Southern California.

Anza Borrego Desert State Park is a great place for running sand washes. Dumont Dunes offers over 8000 acres of sand dunes to play on. Kelso Dunes is closed to vehicles but the perfect place to enjoy a nice walk and you’ll find the biggest sand bowls here. Imperial Sand Dunes, Glamis, Gecko, Olancha Dunes, Rice Valley Dunes, and Rasor are other great places to play in the sand dunes.

If you’d like to spend some time exploring beach towns there are plenty to choose from up and down the coast but here’s a great start. Balboa is a lot of fun with great beaches and plenty of rental shops. Catch a wave on your sea board or try body surfing.

Big Bear Lake is in the San Bernardino Mountains. This 7 mile long man made lake attracts people from all over. You can camp or stay in a local hotel or motel and there’s some great restaurants. You might even decide to try Para sailing or rent a boat.

Laguna Beach is one of the most pristine beaches you’ll ever find. Here you’ll find white sandy beaches, beautiful rock formations, and crystal clear warm waters. There are all kinds of great restaurants, unique shops, and some fabulous festivals. Don’t miss it!

Solvang means sunny fields in Danish and that’s the perfect name for this village. This is truly a town with Danish history, buildings, and even windmills. Here you’ll find things you’ve never seen before!

If you’re looking for something a little more unusual, look no further. The Farmers Market is quite the mix of goods and food. Wonder around. You never know what you might find.

Then why not head over to the Angels Flight Railway built back in 1908 and known as the shortest railroad in the world. Take a ride up the hill that was too steep to walk. Too cool!

China Town is definitely worth a visit. Here you’ll find all kinds of authentic Chinese foods and goods. Have you always want to try fresh frog or perhaps a cup of Green tea? This is the place to experience something new.

The Dinosaurs of Beaumont is a rather unusual site and you’re certain to never see anything quite like it again. Here you’ll find two 55” dinosaur structures. In fact they are the largest in the world. What a sight!
