What You Need To Know About Cable Descramblers

If you don’t quite understand how descramblers and cable go together and what it does stick around and we’ll tell you what you need to know about cable descramblers.

For you to receive all those channels you get with a perfectly clear image your cable company has gone to the trouble of running cable lines all over the city and then connecting them all together to form their cable network. The signals that bring the shows to your television screen are constantly sending a signal but unless you hook up to cable you’re not going to get that signal.

So how do they do that? They use a scrambler. After all the cable company has spent millions if not billions of dollars to network an entire city or town together and they can’t have their profits going down the drain because the signals always there and everybody decides why pay. So they use a scrambling system that scrambles the signals through the line. Then when you hook up to cable they descramble the signal that comes into your home.

To save the cable company loads of money by having to send out a technician every time someone hooks up to cable, the cable company attached descramblers to every home but they aren’t activated unless the cable company turns them on. So when you hook up to cable they turn the descrambler on and as long as you pay your bill you get the signal. Stop paying the bill and they turn the descrambler off or of course if you disconnect they also turn it off.

The cable company also uses the descrambler to allow you to buy pay per view movies or events, and premium channels. One you order your pay per view event the cable company activates the signal in your descrambler to allow you to view it. If you sign up for one of the premium channels the same thing occurs allowing you to view the channel or channels you’ve just subscribed to.

Now there’s a new type of descrambler that’s arrived on the market. It’s the digital descrambler. Their basic functionality is the same as the basic descrambler but the difference is they are able to provide all the additional features of digital cable.

Currently you have two choices when subscribing to cable. You can stick with the basic descrambler or you can choose to purchase the digital service and get the digital descrambler. Digital service is generally more expensive.

So what does digital cable have to offer over your regular cable services? You get more channels, more movies, and an amazing picture quality. Now remember you’ll only notice the improved picture quality if your TV is HDTV compatible.

HDTV brings pictures to life and the digital sound is so much better. HDTV will retain the original width of the film as well as the true sounds so that your home entertainment system can make you feel like your at the movie theater.

Digital also allows you to record your favorite television show or sports event and watch it later. You’ll even be able to pause, fast forward, and rewind the show you are watching. Wow that’s like turning your television into a DVD or VHS player.

Eventually there won’t be a choice between regular cable television and digital cable television. Digital will eventually replace the older service. In the mean time you have options but it would be a good idea to start preparing for the future.
