10 Tips On How To Perform Magic Tricks

Being a magician and being able to perform magic tricks is a great hobby and an excellent way to make money! Entertain the kids and adults too. Start simple and then you can learn more complicated tricks. Get good and start charging for your magic shows. You can start to day with these 10 tips on how to perform magic tricks.

1. Practice Makes Perfect - Practice as much as you can. The more you practice the better you will become at performing the trick. It’s a good idea to practice in front of the mirror so that you can see what the audience will see. Once you’re comfortable with your performance level you can add the trick to your routine.

2. Practice Your Chatter - A good trick is accompanied by good Chatter often referred to as patter. Good chatter keeps the audience distracted and keeps them guessing about your latest magic trick. You should know before you begin your tricks what you are going to say during the show. 3. Never Tell - Yes it can be tempting to reveal how a trick was done and what makes the trick work, but never tell! Keep them trying to figure it out for themselves. This will keep them hooked and they’ll be back for more of your magic shows. Impress them but never tell them!

4. No Repetition - You should never repeat the same trick to the same audience because if you do they may be able to figure it out. The more an audience sees the same trick the more time they have to exam each portion of the trick and eventually they will figure it out. So keep your magic shows fresh with different tricks.

5. Plan Your Seating - The effects of some tricks are directly related to the angle the audience sees you perform them. Many tricks require your audience to be looking straight ahead so be sure to take the time to plan your seating before your show.

6. Something Borrowed - Something borrowed isn’t just good luck for a bride to be, it’s a great way for a magician to interact with their audience. When you borrow items from your audience like coins your trick appears more magical because the audience gets the impression that you don’t have time to do anything sneaky.

7. Meet The Assistant - An assistant is a valuable tool to any magician. Your assistant doesn’t have to be a live person it can be a stuffed animal or a puppet if you like. Your interaction with your assistant keeps the audience more interactive and distracted.

8. Your Attire - Look the part of the magician. Make sure your attire is catchy and attracts the audience’s attention.

9. Entertain - Remember your audience wants to be entertained. A trick is 90% presentation and 10% skill. If you entertain your guests correctly they will be satisfied with what they saw and will have gotten the entertainment value they desire. Secretly audiences really don’t want to know how a trick is performed. They enjoy the mystery and intrigue surrounding the magic. That’s why they are there to watch.

10. Presentation - Be sure you’ve taken some time to go over your entire presentation. Not just the trick itself, but what the audience sees in the background, the color and style of the props, what the floor looks like. Make sure that your entire presentation draws the audience in and captures their attention.
